The "Roberts Court's" First Abortion Decision

The Missouri inmate was pregnant and wanted an abortion. The State has a law prohibiting state prisons from assistiung inmates in getting abortions. The federal district court ordered the State to transport her to an abortion clinic and the Court of Appeals affirmed. The State asked Justice Thomas for an emergency stay of that order and Thomas initially granted it and then referred the matter to the Court. The court yesterday issued a two sentence opinion, denying the stay, thereby leaving in place the lower court order.

It's hard to know what (if anything) to make of this, but it is interesting.
