Iraq: The Balkan Solution

Joe Biden had an Op-Ed piece in the NYT earlier this week arguing that the the US should give up on trying to unify Iraq and should instead work toward a partition not unlike that which has occurred in the Balkans following the breakup of Yougoslavia. Whether we should work for that or not is an open question, but it certainly does seem to me to it is not an outcome we should resist.
